December’s love from our clients
How we stacked up compared to last month
Happy Holidays everyone!
It’s a beautiful time of year and a great opportunity to reflect on not only the past month of December but also the past year as a whole. 2016 was an incredible year for us and I hope it was for you too! We welcomed many new wonderful experts to our team this year and a few new team members here in-house.
Our number of new conversations started by our users was up 120 tickets over last month however, we were still able to keep our average 3 minute response time, even with the holidays and some of our team taking off to be with family. (YAY!) Because of the holidays and many people around the world who also took time away from work to be with family and friends, our number of posted projects was slightly down compared to last month, as was our traffic, number of conversations closed and replies sent.
Taking a moment to reflect back on our client happiness quote of the month, that was a brand new client who didn’t quite understand our system at first and reached out to us to ask some questions (and was really happy with our answers!)
Here are the 2016’s most commonly asked questions in support:
Q: How are you different from other outsourcing sites like UpWork?
A: We’re very different from other outsourcing sites online (thankfully), in that all of our WordPress developers have been carefully screened and vetted to ensure they meet our high standards of providing quality communication (in English), clean code, and responsiveness. You can learn more about our screening process in our May 2016 Happiness Report
We also have simple but strict rules that experts may only submit estimates on projects they know they can solve. We then stand behind them 100% with our money back guarantee. And believe me, our experts really don’t like working for free. This helps to ensure you’re working with the right developer on your project.
Q: Can you help me with completing X?
A: If it’s WordPress related, chances are really good that our experts can help you. Our team of experts help clients every day with small tweaks and updates, cleaning and securing hacked sites, optimizing sites for speed or SEO, migrating hosting companies, solving hosting issues, resolving bugs, rescuing sites that have gone offline, creating brand new sites from scratch, re-designing existing sites, creating custom plugins, customizing themes and plugins, and just about anything else you can think of.
Our WordPress experts are some of the best in the world and include many theme and plugin authors, WordPress core contributors, WordPress.org theme and plugin reviewers, experienced sysadmins, senior full-stack developers, designer/devs, and even some leading agencies who work with clients on larger projects ranging anywhere from $3,000 to $43,000 and up.
Q: How much will it cost to complete X. This is a bit like saying I want to buy a car. How much will it cost to buy a car?
A: Well, it depends. 🙂 It depends on what features you’re looking to have, how much work is involved, how quickly you need it done, how complex the project is… there are many variables that go into an estimate. So this is how we help explain this question to new users…
Pricing really all depends on the scope of work to be completed. So the bigger, more involved the project, the more it will cost to complete.
Our rates on Codeable range USD $70 – $120 per hour and are based on the total scope being requested (approx. # of hours), complexity, and urgency.
The best way to get started is to post your project (for free) here: https://app.codeable.io/tasks/new
Once it’s posted our experts will begin finding it and the ones who are most qualified with your project will make comments and ask you questions in order to get it 100% defined and crystal clear. Then they’ll provide an estimate to complete it 🙂
Q: Do your experts bid on my project?
A: Absolutely not! We found that the bidding system used by the other companies online results in a race to the bottom with regards to price, AND also to quality. And at Codeable, we care about quality being most important.
So you’ll never get 37 ‘bids’ from people who never read your project brief. Instead, you’ll receive on average 2-3 experts having a real conversation with you to ensure they understand what you’re looking to have delivered, and then they’ll estimate on it only when they’re sure they can complete it.
Our system then takes the average of all estimates and adds our 17.5% Codeable fee to the top. So the price you see displayed on your screen is the total out the door price.
Q: What if I find a bug in the code after it’s delivered? Will you charge me to fix it?
A: While most developers provide a 3-5 day warranty period for bugs found, Codeable has an industry leading 28 day warranty period.
Q: What happens if my chosen expert gets sick or has an emergency and can’t finish my project?
A: Great question! Since your money is held safely in escrow, we’re able to remove them from your project and bring in another expert to see it to completion so you get back on track quickly.
Q: What if I have questions, is there anyone at Codeable I can talk to?
A: You betcha! Should you need help from support, we’re always just a click away using our in-app messenger (intercom.com) or via email at [email protected]. Or if you prefer a phone call, we’re not afraid to pick up the phone and speak with you about your project.
Hopefully, that helps explain a bit more about Codeable and clears up any confusion. But not to worry, if you have questions, give us a try and click the small blue support icon in the lower right corner of the screen and we’ll be there for you. Ask us some questions, or just say Hey!
Please help us welcome our newest experts!

What’s to come?
Very big, very exciting plans for 2017!!
We’ve already migrated our server so that our app now loads 50% faster and costs 50% less (we call that a twofer lol), we have an amazing team in place ready to scale our number of experts, clients, and posted projects, and we’re investing more heavily into our marketing.
Up until this point, we were relying more on word of mouth and organic growth with a little bit of ppc sprinkled in. But now we’re going to start really focusing on our marketing to grow exponentially.
And we’re already in development of new useful features like a completely redesigned project posting submission form and retainers for monthly based projects. Both of which will be launching soon…
We also have some exciting new partnerships with very respected companies in the WordPress industry and we’ll be announcing those details shortly when the time is right.
Oh the places we’ll go in 2017! It’s going to be a very exciting year and we hope you’re going to share our journey with us!
Here’s to another great month and year!
